Get a breath of fresh air in Willemstad

In Willemstad you will discover the special history of this former fortified town. In the countryside you cycle through the polders, the Markdal and through charming Zevenbergen.

Fortifications
From Willemstad you drive up the Oostdijk to Noordschans, a village named after the former Fort Hollandia that was lost in a flood in 1682. On the edge of Klundert you can see some sixteenth-century defenses. They were part of the Defense Line of the Hollands Diep. In Zevenbergen you pass Fleur. On the Markt you will see some special monumental buildings, the medieval St. Catherine's Church and the young St. Bartholomew's Church.

Markdal
At Hotel de Borgh you can not only stay comfortably, but also enjoy a cozy terrace. Don't stick around for too long, because the Markdal awaits. Here you cycle many kilometers on car-free dikes, while enjoying the views over the vast fields. Get some fresh air in Brabant! Fort de Hel was built by the French in 1811, a nice break. In Willemstad you can see many beautiful monuments, such as the Mauritshuis from 1623.
