Schwalmtal, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany
Cycling route: 750691
Provided by: Erfgoed Gelderland
From the Hariksee the route leads through Sint Anton and Schaag to Breyell. In the Middle Ages, Breyell was located at a junction of trade routes from Cologne to 's Hertogenbosch and from Aachen to Nijmegen. Moreover, the port of Venlo was not too far away. That made Breyell a flourishing trading place. After Breyell you cycle along the Wittsee with the Krickenberer Seen nature reserve as your final destination.
This route is part of the long-distance route Grenzen van Gelre . Discover your Gelderland roots in 10 border regions, 44 routes and 900 kilometers. Each route can be cycled separately. The routes in the Netherlands run via cycling junctions. In Germany the cycle route can only be followed using GPS or the map on route.nl.
