Description
The route continues through the border region between Aalten and Dinxperlo. This region was part of the Bredevoort seigneury for a long time. Many battles have been fought for that glory over the centuries. First between the counts of Guelders and the bishop of Münster and then during the Eighty Years' War between the Spanish and Dutch troops. In the Batavian-French period (1795-1813) the fiefdom was divided into Aalten, Bredevoort, Dinxperlo and Winterswijk.
