In and around Beesd you will find everything that makes the Betuwe so beautiful: fruit orchards, the idyllic landscape along the Linge and worth seeing towns such as Beesd, Rhenoy and Rumpt. Ideal for a walk!
The Linge
The Linge is one of the longest rivers that originated in the Netherlands. Around Beesd, the Linge meanders through the landscape in an old-fashioned way. From the dike you look out over the flowery grasslands and fruit orchards along the river. It is wonderfully quiet walking here. In Rhenoy you will pass the striking white plastered village church, some parts dating from the fifteenth century.
Old Beast
In Rumpt you will pass a number of old farms and stately buildings on the Dorpsdijk. The Murder Cross commemorates Otto van Scherpenzaal. This descendant of an old knight family died here during a skirmish in the battle between the Hertogdom of Guelders and the Diocese of Utrecht. The Voorstraat in Beesd enjoys a protected village view. What a wonderful historical atmosphere you will find here! De Vrijheid is an eighteenth-century corn mill. The tower of St. Peter's Church is unfinished, a striking sight!
