M59 - Rumpt - Moordkruis

The murder cross or memorial cross at Rumpt commemorates Otto van Scherpenzeel. He was killed on this spot during a skirmish between troops of the Duke of Gelre and soldiers of the Bishop of Utrecht. Otto lived just around the corner in the Huis in Rumpt. His descendants founded the memorial cross.
