Description

There are beautiful old towns along the Lek where there is plenty of cultural history to experience. You will also discover numerous monumental farms, some dating from the seventeenth century. And many windmills, such as the Hoekmolen and Stijve Molen. The Bonrepas is a polder mill from 1600. Schoonhoven is known for its picturesque old city center. The Waag dates from 1617, the Schoonhovens Edelambachtshuys is located in a synagogue from 1838. Further on is the Veerpoort, the only one of the original five city gates that remains. On the other side of the Lek you pass through the former Nieuwpoort fortress. You cycle through the vast polders to beautiful Noordeloos, further on you pass through the historic center of Vianen. Get off in IJsselstein for a cup of coffee at Hotel Epping!
