Along the Lek are beautiful old towns where you can experience plenty of cultural history. You will also discover numerous monumental farms, some dating back to the seventeenth century. And many mills, such as the Hoekmolen and Stijve Molen. The Bonrepas is a polder mill from 1600. Schoonhoven is known for its picturesque old city centre. The Waag dates from 1617, the Schoonhovens Edelambachtshuys is located in a synagogue from 1838. Further on is the Veerpoort, the only one of the original five city gates that has survived. On the other side of the Lek you come through the former fortress of Nieuwpoort. Through the vast polders you cycle to the beautiful Noordeloos, further on you come through the historic centre of Vianen.
