During the national Day of Silence, or on another day when you could use some rest, go out on the Heuvelrug and relax completely.
The Leersum Field
Walking through a quiet and green environment helps you to disconnect from all the stimuli you encounter in daily life. This allows you to really relax and refuel. This route through the beautiful Leersumse Veld is perfect for that. This area is also known as the quietest place in the Netherlands. One moment you are walking on stately avenues and the next moment on sand drifts or along the Leersumse Plassen and it is quiet everywhere.
Nature in all its glory
Keep your eyes peeled and let the Leersumse Veld surprise you. This beautiful area has something different to offer every season, such as the flowering heather in late summer and the changing deciduous trees in autumn. You will also find all kinds of special animals such as the moor frog, all kinds of dragonflies and water birds.
The Leersum Lakes
The Leersumse Veld used to consist of peat areas, but this peat was excavated on a large scale in the 18th century. This is how the Leersumse Plassen were created. The first puddle you walk past is sometimes dry. The two other lakes are always full of water and they form an important habitat for amphibians, among others.
