Leersumse Veld
Visit the website
The Leersumse Veld is the quietest place in the Netherlands. Carved out in the Ice Age by melt water in the lateral moraine that is now called Utrechtse Heuvelrug. Deforestation and overgrazing have depleted the soil over centuries. The Leersumse Veld became an area of drifting sand and heather, which began to paint in wet places.
