E-bike route estates and castles on the IJssel

Along the IJssel you will make a beautiful trip through old farmlands, water-rich nature reserves and beautiful villages. In short: a wonderful day of cycling! On the IJsseldijk you will pass Landgoed De Haere. Here you will find an old manor house, but also part of the IJssellinie: one of the largest defense works that were built during the Cold War. Further on is Groot Hoenlo: an original thirteenth-century manor house. In the beautiful Olst you will pass the thirteenth-century village church. Further on is Huis Westervoorde, an eighteenth-century country estate. At the former brick factory on the Fortmonderweg there is a lookout tower, here you can enjoy a beautiful view of the IJssel and the floodplain landscape. You will also cycle through the picturesque Wijhe and along the bird-rich Buitenwaarden.
