A tour around the Black Lake

Old Kraggenburg
The route starts at Het Wapen van Ens, a hospitable and friendly restaurant. After a cup of coffee you drive into the Noordoostpolder. Here you can enjoy views over the polder landscape, but also the shelter of the Voorsterbos. Just before junction 14 you pass a striking elevation in the landscape: Oud-Kraggenburg, a former artificial island in the Zuiderzee. The monumental light-keeper's house dates from 1877. Further on, you look out over the Zwarte Meer from the dike.

World Heritage Schokland
At the Kamperzeedijk you pass the steam pumping station Mastenbroek. This building from 1855 is in the Top 100 of National Monuments! Further on you drive through the beautiful polders on the Kampereiland. At Museum Farm Erf 29 you can learn more about local history. Schokland is also a unique part of the Netherlands. For centuries it was an island in the Zuiderzee.
