Tranquility and history on Voorne-Putten

The route starts at Paviljoen de Duinrand, a stylish restaurant where walkers, cyclists and locals like to come together to enjoy the delicious food and the atmosphere. From this special location you can drive straight into Voornes Duin: one of the most species-rich dune areas in Western Europe. You will find dunes, flowery grasslands, moist valleys and dune forests. Just past Rockanje you cycle into the polders. It is wonderful to make kilometers in this wide landscape. On the Penserdijk you pass a former fort from 1885. Past the picturesque Zwartewaal you drive along the Brielse Meer, before you cycle into Brielle. The largely seventeenth-century fortress is one of the best-preserved defenses in the Netherlands. You can see the Vliegend Hert, a corn mill from 1862.
