Description
Otterlo is known as a green village in the middle of the Veluwe. This village is the perfect base for walks through quiet areas full of natural beauty. Get ready for a relaxing walk through the woods and along the agricultural areas just outside Otterlo.
Admire the sights
At the start of this route you walk between vast fields. After walking about 2.5 kilometers you can take a look at the Lana Mariana Mill. This mill has been here since 1739 and before that the mill stood in the middle of the village of Harskamp. The mill was used for a long time to make flour, but nowadays the mill is closed. The mill now serves as a residence. Admire this mill for a moment and then walk further to the war memorial 1st Canadian Army Corps Monument. This monument was placed here in memory of the liberation of the Veluwe in April 1945 by the First Canadian Army Corps.
Homegrown wine
In the area between Otterlo and the end point of this route you will find Wijnhoeve de Veluwe. Grapes are grown here to make delicious organic wines. Take a tour here and be surprised by the quality of the wines made here. Good wine does not necessarily have to come from abroad.
