Around Nijkerk you will find plenty of variety. You will ride along the water of the Nijkerkernauw, the polder Arkemheen and through nature reserve De Appelse Heide. A great recipe for a day of enjoyment!
Arkemheenpolder
The route starts in Spakenburg, a former fishing village on the Zuiderzee. You cycle along the old harbour, which enjoys a protected village view. What a lovely atmosphere! From the old Zeedijk you look out over the water of the Nijkerker- and Nuldernauw on the left. On the right you see the fourteenth-century Arkemheenpolder, wow! At Groepsaccommodatie De Aalbertshoeve you can stay overnight, but you can also book a fun activity, such as klootschieten.
Apple Heath
On the edge of Putten you make a stop at VOF Heimensen ho Pluktuin Het Platteland. Enjoy a coffee with something tasty in the Pluktuin. And pick some fruit for the road. Further on you come through nature reserve De Appelse Heide. Just before Appel you drive through an old coulisse landscape. You really feel like you are back in time here. Wonderful! Mill De Hoop dates from 1888 and was used to grind grain.
