The rich history of the Noordoostpolder

In the Noordoostpolder it is wonderful to cycle through a wide, tightly arranged landscape. In addition to tranquility, you will also experience a rich history here, because Urk and the former Schokland are on your route. You can enjoy the views on the dike along the IJsselmeer. A little later you drive on the cycle path along the Ketelmeer. In the middle of the water you can see the IJsseloog, a group of artificial islands that have developed into a bird-rich nature reserve. Just past the village of Ens you drive across part of Schokland, which, like Urk, was a former Zuiderzee island. The northernmost point of Schokland is now the center of the Noordoostpolder. Further on you cycle back into Urk. The old center enjoys a protected village view, you will experience a wonderful historic atmosphere here. The route ends at Restaurant De Kaap, where you can enjoy a delicious snack and drink.
