The Flinten Route past sheepfolds and dolmens

You start the route at De Kippesthee Koffie & Thee. In the Drenthe forests you will still find an old-fashioned refreshing silence. The route also takes you through some characteristic Drenthe villages full of Saxon farms, such as Valthe. In Borger you will pass the Willibrord Church, whose tower dates from the Middle Ages. You will also see the former mayor's house here, a striking villa from 1900. You drive through Boswachterij Exloo, but also Boswachterij Odoorn with its extensive heathland. It is wonderfully quiet here. There is a lookout tower at junction 6 to view the surroundings from above. In Esdorp Exloo you cycle past the former Bebinghehoes, which served as a regional museum and later as a distillery. The monumental farm from 1722 was destroyed by fire at the end of March 2017.
