NV Lactaria
The monumental farm complex NV Lactaria on the Kloosterstraat dates from 1911. From here a start was made on the cultivation of the extensive heathland. Lactaria is older than Stevensbeek itself, the village was founded in 1934 by Piets Stevens, then mayor of neighboring Sambeek.
The Hondsbergen
Just below Stevensbeek you walk through De Hondsbergen, an elongated cover sand ridge where mainly conifers grow. Close your eyes here and enjoy the fresh forest air. Westerbeek is also a mining village, it emerged from the mid-nineteenth century. The monumental village church dates from 1922. It is then wonderful to walk in the countryside. Ideal to charge the battery, because it is still old-fashioned quiet in this region!
