Description
Via the junction network you cycle along the Amstel and the Overtoom where you enjoy that characteristic vibe of Amsterdam. The Vondelpark is an icon. Once a peat meadow area, the park, laid out in the English landscape style, was opened in 1865. A little later you drive into the Amsterdamse Bos. The beautiful water features and bridges have created a special landscape here. After you drive along the Zijdelmeer below Uithoorn, you will pass two forts that belong to the Defense Line of Amsterdam: the Fort at Uithoorn and Fort Waver-Amstel. You drive over the dike along the meandering Oude Waver. You have beautiful views of the Rondehoep polder. The historic center of Ouderkerk aan de Amstel is wonderfully atmospheric.
