From Voorne you can drive straight onto the Maasvlakte beach: a beautiful spot on a unique example of Dutch craftsmanship. You will also pass through Brielle, the town that was conquered by the Beggars from the Spaniards on April 1, 1572. After which the statement'On April 1 Alva lost his glasses\\\' became cultural heritage.
Voornes Dune
The route starts at Restaurant Aan Zee, a beautiful and cozy catering establishment in the dunes near Oostvoorne. From here you drive to the Maasvlakte beach: an ideal spot to get a breath of fresh air, while enjoying the sound of the surf and the view of the North Sea. It is then wonderful to make kilometers on the leafy cycle path along the Brielse Meer. Especially if you have the wind at your back.
Half Moon
You pass through the old center of Brielle, the largely seventeenth-century fortress is one of the best preserved defenses in the Netherlands. You can see the Vliegend Hert, a corn mill from 1862. In the polder you will pass Museum in den Halven Maen. You really take a step back in time here. At the end of your route you cycle into Voornes Duin. How beautiful and quiet it is here!
