Through the Gelderse Poort

This route takes you through the Gelderse Poort: a series of beautiful nature reserves along the Waal. In addition to the natural beauty, you can also enjoy the many sights.

Greenlands
From the Waal Bridge you have a beautiful view of the area where you will cycle. Here you can see beautifully how the Waal meanders through the landscape. And how the moraine rises near Nijmegen. On the dikes in the Greenlands and Millingerwaard you can get a breath of fresh air and look out over the rugged landscape. In the polder you will see authentic mound farms that remind you of the time when dikes offered less security against the rising river water.

Picturesque Bemmel
A ferry takes you to the other side of the river. The views are also great here. Near Gendt you cycle past the fifteenth-century gate tower of Poelwijk Castle, demolished in 1864. In Bemmel you can see the beautiful, partly white-plastered Reformed Church. Further on is De Kinkelenburg: part of the country house still reminds of its fifteenth-century origins as a keep. After this beautiful tour it is time for a terrace at Mona\\\'s food and drink festival.
