Discover the area around the Overloon Dunes

Come walk in the Overloonse Duinen! This route takes you through a nature reserve where you will find drifting dunes, heathland and fragrant coniferous forests. You will also walk a bit through the village of Overloon.

Overloon Dunes
The route starts at IJssalon Clevers Overloon. A cozy spot for a traditional ice cream, but also for a coffee and pastry. From the ice cream parlor you can walk straight into the countryside. On the Helderseweg you pass a farm from the second half of the eighteenth century. A little later you enter the slightly rolling forests of the Overloonse Duinen. On the wild grounds mainly fresh-smelling trees grow such as Scots pine, larch and Douglas fir.

Battle of Overloon
It is nice to walk through this quiet nature reserve. Every now and then you have beautiful views. You also walk over a small heath. On the edge of Overloon you can make a trip to the Overloon War Museum. Here you will learn more about the Battle of Overloon: a ten-day tank battle between an American tank division and the German army in which Overloon was almost completely destroyed.
