Ready for a brisk walk? Put on your walking shoes for a long trip over the dikes around the Wormer and Jisperveld. A route with a lot of cultural history!
Tranquil meadow landscape
The route starts on the edge of Jisp. From the dike you immediately look out over the Wormer and Jisperveld. For a thousand years, people have plodded, dug, dredged and cursed to get the land under control. Now the area, which is two meters below NAP, is a rustic and tranquil meadow landscape that is only suitable for keeping cattle. There are many meadow birds, so bring your binoculars!
Picturesque villages
While walking you discover how beautiful a village like Jisp is. You will see many monumental buildings here, such as a town hall from 1650 and a house with a green wooden facade from 1656. It seems as if you have stepped back in time. You will also see the Fort on the Middenweg, which is part of the Defense Line of Amsterdam. What a walk!
