Hiking route: 570447
Provided by: Groots Genieten
Ready for a brisk walk? Put on your walking shoes for a long hike on the dikes around the Wormer- and Jisperveld. A route with lots of cultural history!
Silent meadow landscape
The route starts at the edge of Jisp. From the dike you immediately look out over the Wormer- and Jisperveld. Here, people have toiled, dug, dredged and cursed for a thousand years to get the land under control. Now the area, which lies two meters below NAP, is a rustic and tranquil meadow landscape that is only suitable for keeping cattle. Many meadow birds live there, so bring your binoculars!
Picturesque villages
While walking you discover how beautiful a village like Jisp is. You see many monumental buildings here, such as a town hall from 1650 and a house with a green wooden facade from 1656. It seems as if you have stepped back in time here. You also see Fort aan de Middenweg that is part of the Defence Line of Amsterdam. What a walk!
