Abbey animal from the Sint Sixtus Abbey
The starting point of this route is in Poperinge. From here you cycle into a quiet area full of vast meadows, hop fields, fields and here and there a small forest area. Enjoy the peace and space here and take a look at the various sights that you encounter along the way. After cycling for more than 6 kilometers you will arrive at the Sint Sixtus Abbey. This abbey is mainly known for the Trappist beer that is brewed there. In the abbey shop you can buy abbey beer, but you have to reserve the beer online in advance. Then you cycle on to Ypres through a vast rural area.
Museums in Poperinge
In Ypres you can visit the war memorial Menin Gate and Brewery De Kazematten. From Ypres you cycle back to Poperinge. There you will find the Hop Museum and the Talbot House, a museum where you can learn more about life during the First World War, at the end of the route.
