Lovely round of Harderwijk

From the rugged nature of the Leuvenumse Bos to the historic Ermelosche Heide: cycling around Harderwijk is wonderful! This route also treats you to a nice shortcut through the Hanseatic city.

Leuvenum Forest
From Hierden, close to Harderwijk, you set off. You will soon pass the fairytale castle De Essenburgh, from the seventeenth century, with its beautiful gardens. Then you drive into the woods for which the Veluwe is known. The Leuvenumse Bos, through which you drive, is a varied forest of deciduous and coniferous trees that is intersected by the Leuvenumsche Beek. There are many wild animals such as boars, badgers and red deer.

Ermelo Heide
You cycle straight through nature to the Ermelosche Heide. Here you can find ancient burial mounds and earthen defensive walls from the time of the Romans, who had a marching camp here. A little further you can get off at the cozy Eetcafé de Vos for a snack and a drink. In the Hanseatic city of Harderwijk, you follow a cycle path right along the Randmeer Wolderwijd to the historic Hoogstraat, which leads you right through the city center. Variety trumps!
