Walking along the Oisterwijkse Vennen

Your route starts at Boshuis Venkraai. It is almost impossible to imagine, but the Oisterwijkse Bossen en Vennen were once an extensive heathland. At the edge of the forest you will see meadows, fields and beautiful country houses. At junction 2 you will pass Zandstraat 5, an authentic small farm from the beginning of the nineteenth century. The beautiful building is in the top 100 of national monuments. A little later you will dive into the forests and enjoy the peace and quiet at the Brandven. That used to be different: the water from this fen was used to extinguish fires. The Kolkven is the largest fen in the Oisterwijk forests. This fen was not blown away by polar winds, but eroded by the swirling water of an old meltwater river.
