The area around Bingelrade in Limburg is a great place to walk. You will soon enter Jabeek. This old artists' village is a well-kept secret: you will see beautiful old farms, some of which are connected to each other via an underground tunnel system. You can also take a look at the Sint-Gertrudiskerk. The tower dates from the fifteenth century, the choir was replaced in 1859 by the famous architect Pierre Cuypers. The Quabeek flows under the village, of which the name Jabeek is a corruption. Just over the border you walk a bit along the Rode Beek. Back in the Netherlands you walk along a characteristic sunken road towards Doenrade. Thanks to the special microclimate, many plant species grow here. The holes along the road are badger dens. The route ends at the cozy Gasterie Hedelfinger.
