A detour Bingelrade

In the vicinity of Bingelrade in Limburg, it is wonderful to go for a walk. This route takes you through the hilly and natural border area with Germany. You will enjoy the peace and the views!

Jabeek
Soon you walk into Jabeek. This old artists' village is a well-kept secret: you will see beautiful old farms, some of which are connected to each other via an underground system of corridors. You can also take a look at the Sint-Gertrudiskerk. The tower dates from the fifteenth century, the choir was replaced in 1859 by the renowned architect Pierre Cuypers. The Quabeek flows below the village, of which the name Jabeek is a corruption.

Hollow away
Just across the border you walk along the Rode Beek. Make sure you have waterproof footwear, as the footpath through the woods and meadows can be muddy at times. You will experience a soothing silence here. A great opportunity to forget the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Back in the Netherlands you walk on a characteristic sunken road towards Doenrade. Thanks to the special microclimate, many plant species grow here. The holes along the road are badger holes. The route ends at the cozy Gasterie Hedelfinger.
