Description
The Over-Betuwe is an ideal cycling area close to Arnhem and Nijmegen. In this sparsely populated region you will find interesting old villages, plenty of natural beauty and wonderful tranquility.
Winding dikes
From the edge of the village of Bemmel you can drive straight into the polder. Here you cycle through a mix of vast meadows and fruit orchards. You will see many characteristic old farms along the winding dikes. In the hamlet of Homoet you will pass a site on Homoetsestraat that is considered an archaeological monument. Traces of settlement from the Iron Age and Roman times have been found.
Park Lingezegen
From the Rijndijk near Driel you look out over the Lower Rhine. Across the water you can see the green Veluwe moraine on the horizon: a beautiful view. Just below Arnhem you drive past the Rijkerswoerdse Plassen.
