There is plenty of cultural history to be found in Wieringen. The former island was only linked to North Holland in 1924 and has therefore developed and retained its own character for centuries. Just after boarding you pass the Historical Corner in the harbor of Den Oever. There are floating jetties here that are specially intended for sailing fishing vessels that are classified as sailing monuments. You can get off at junction 32 to take a look at the centuries-old Wierdijk. About halfway you can make a pit stop at the Wieringer Ice Cream and Dairy Farm. In Westerland and Hippolytushoef you pass beautiful old village churches. You will also pass the De Onderneming mill and the remake of a Pagan Chapel. At the Jan Lont island museum you can learn more about the special history of this chapel.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
