Description

The first few metres you walk along the Mulderplas, a former swamp area where the State Mines once discharged the polluted rinsing water that was used to wash the coal. In 1984 the area was cleaned up, so that you can now enjoy the beautiful forests around the lake. A little further on you walk through the park-like valley of the Geleenbeek. When you leave the Mulderswegske, you will see the traditional Alfa Brewery on the left, a family business that was founded in 1870. The footpath then takes you over the Krekelberg, a hill that is just over 100 metres high. You walk through a beautiful beech forest here. On the west side you pass the monumental Mariakapel from 1939. At Brasserie De Muldermolen you can enjoy a nice drink and a snack.
