Description

The first few meters you walk along the Mulderplas, a former swamp area where the State mines once discharged the polluted rinse water used to wash the coal. The area was cleaned up in 1984, so you can now enjoy the beautiful forests surrounding the lake. A little further on you walk through the park-like valley of the Geleenbeek. When you exit Mulderswegske, you will see the traditional Alfa Brewery on your left, a family business that was founded in 1870. The hiking trail then takes you over the Krekelberg, a hill that is just over 100 meters high. Here you walk through a beautiful beech forest. On the west side you pass the monumental Mariakapel from 1939. At Brasserie De Muldermolen you can enjoy a nice drink and snack.
