From Venlo station you start the 22nd stage of the Pieterpad. A route that leads you through the center of the Hanseatic city of Venlo, after which you only walk through forest and heathland to Swalmen. To enjoy!
Hanseatic city of Venlo
During the Second World War, a large part of the historic center of Venlo was destroyed. Yet there are still some monumental gems to be found. You will see, among other things, the St. George's Church from 1718. You will also pass the town hall on the Markt, this beautiful building originally dates from the fourteenth century.
Brachter Wald
For the rest of the route you can fully enjoy the beautiful nature in this border region. You walk through the gently sloping Jammerdal. Here, some former clay quarries have been transformed into a nature reserve with moist alder forests. Further on you walk on the border for a while and even briefly through Germany in the vast Brachter Wald. How wonderfully quiet it is here! The last part of the route you walk through the Swalm Valley with its beautiful moist forests.
