Description
Student city Leuven
The starting point of this route is on the edge of the Mechels Broek nature reserve. From here you set course for Mechelen through the watery river valley with special flora and fauna. Continue cycling and after about 30 kilometers get off your steel steed to explore Leuven. Here you will find the famous University of Leuven, which was founded in 1425. You will also find all kinds of impressive historic buildings such as the Town Hall and St. Peter's Church.
Cycling along the canal
From Leuven you cycle further to Mechelen along the edge of the Leuve-Dijle canal. Along the way you can take a look at the Experience Center'14-'18 in Tildonk if you want to learn more about the First World War.
Historical heritage in Mechelen
Then it is time to get acquainted with Mechelen's rich past. Admire the UNESCO World Heritage Site and other beautiful buildings in this city or sit on a terrace for a well-deserved beer. It's all possible here. You then cycle back to the starting point of the route along the Provincial Recreational Domain De Nekker and along the edge of the Mechels Broek nature reserve.
