Elburg is a beautiful fortified town a stone's throw from the peripheral lakes between Flevoland and Gelderland. In Elburg you can enjoy historic sights and ancient streets that reveal that this old Hanseatic city has a rich history. The port of Elburg is the starting point of this route. From here you can walk into the center of the town. The fortified city still has a rectangular street plan that dates from the Middle Ages. In the center you will pass one historic building after another. The city is surrounded by beautiful ramparts and parts of the city wall. Also nice is the National Historical Organ Museum, located in a medieval city castle. Then you walk outside for a bit to explore the canal that surrounds Elburg. So you can clearly see that it is a fortified city!
