Walking through the Zwanburgerpolder

From the town of Warmond on the mainland you can easily walk to Koudenhoorn over a bridge. You will find all kinds of birds here. Drink a cup of coffee at Brasserie Coazy and then make the crossing to the Zwanburgerpolder on the salon boat De Heere Schouten (from March to October). All kinds of birds breed in the low-lying meadows on this island in the spring. On the Zwanburgerpolder you will find the Zwanburgermolen from the 19th century. There was not always an island in the Zwanburgerpolder. It used to be the edge of the Dutch peat area, but that changed when sand was extracted. You can then take the salon boat to Tengnagel, a narrow spit of land between the Zijl river and Joppe. You walk back to the mainland over the De Strengen bridge.
