Deventer spice cake
Through the woods and the Achterhoek bocage landscape, you'll enter Deventer, one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands. It boasts a beautiful historic center, home to the Lebuïnus Church, a Gothic hall church from the fifteenth century. Take your time to soak up the unique atmosphere and stock up on some local gingerbread for the journey. After crossing the river by ferry, you'll pass the Bolwerksmolen (Bolwerksmolen), a sawmill dating back to 1863.
Wilpse clay
You'll cycle for several kilometers through the Wilpse Klei, a floodplain of the IJssel River where farms are often built on mounds. Zutphen also boasts a rich cultural history. In the floodplains, you'll pass the Geertruida Cornelia, a grain mill dating back to 1893.
