Walking route Amerongen and Zuylestein

Amerongen is a beautiful old town on the edge of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. An ideal environment for a varied walk full of natural beauty and cultural history. First you enter the Amerongse Bos, one of the oldest forests on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. You walk over straight lanes and winding paths past a mix of beech, oak and coniferous trees. About halfway you reach the highest point of this walk: the more than 69 meter high Amerongse Berg. Then you descend to the historic heart of Amerongen. Here you pass, among other things, the thirteenth-century Andrieskerk and Amerongen Castle. The last meters you walk on Landgoed Zuylestein, a knight's manor whose history dates back to the end of the fourteenth century.
