Tour of forts near Bergen op Zoom

Your route starts at Onder de Toren. From here you cycle to Bergen op Zoom, a city with a rich history. You will also see many beautiful old buildings, such as the fourteenth-century Gevangenpoort, the oldest building in the city. You will pass through the beautiful city park Kijk in de Pot. Further on, be sure to get off at Fort De Roovere. This redoubt was built in 1628 on a high sand ridge. Together with two other forts, this fort was part of the West-Brabant Water Line that had to protect Bergen op Zoom from the Spanish. The fort was restored a few years ago, the earthen ramparts and moats give you a glimpse into the past. The footbridge is praised at home and abroad. Come and experience why for yourself!
