Tour of Elsloo and Catsop

Your route starts at Het Slimme Schaap. A little further on you will see Elsloo Castle, the eye-catcher of the protected village view in Elsloo. A beautiful landscape park was created around the castle at the beginning of the nineteenth century. Of course only for the castle residents, the people from the village were only allowed access to the park in 1960. A walk through the park is like a journey through time: you experience the atmosphere of the past here. In the botanical garden you will see some rare trees. A delight for nature lovers. In the Elsloerbos mainly alders and beeches grow. The kingfisher has settled in this nature reserve, with a bit of luck you can spot one. You will also pass some wayside chapels, such as in Catsop where the monumental Maria chapel from 1848 is located.
