Castle
Kasteel Elsloo
Elsloo Castle is located in the former economy buildings of the original castle. Part of these buildings is the indoor watermill, the Slakmolen, from 1552. The actual castle, a large mansion that stood perpendicular to the still existing tower, was unfortunately lost in 1885 by fire. Incidentally, the remains of the original castle of Elsloo lie in the Maas bed. This was swallowed up by the Meuse in the 15th century. The remains of the castle are still visible at low water levels. De Slakmolen is the only surviving mill of the three watermills known from the history of Elsloo. It is fed by the Slakbeek. The construction of this watermill was already commissioned in 1553. Experience the warm atmosphere and the versatility of the soothing south, the tranquility of nature and the enthusiasm of the region.
