Tour of Garderen and Staverden

Your route starts at Camping Huttopia de Veluwe. The Houtbeek near Stroe dates from the last ice age, when meltwater carved out a channel here. Hunter-gatherers set up their hunting camps here as far back as the Stone Age. Then you will discover Klein Boeschoten, a private estate. Here you can still beautifully see the original design of the medieval Wildforster estate. Staverden Estate is an idyllic spot where you will find a castle and some farms. Near junction 61 you will pass the Hunneschans, a defense structure at the Uddelermeer. It consists of an earthen ring wall with a moat around it. Further on, stop at Wildpark and Museum Aardhuis, in a former royal hunting chalet! Just after Kootwijk you can put your bike aside again, this time to climb the Kootwijkerzand Lookout Tower.
