Tour of Garderen, Speuld and Drie

Your route starts at Restaurant Puur. Today you will discover beautiful authentic nature and ancient traces of man. That goes well together! The Houtbeek near Stroe dates from the last ice age, when meltwater carved out a gully here. Hunter-gatherers already set up their hunting camps here in the Stone Age. In the middle of the forest you will come across Drie, an ancient picturesque hamlet. The Speulderbos is a varied primeval forest where nature is allowed to take its course. It is known as the 'forest of the dancing trees'. Only the straight trunks were traditionally cut down. Speuld is a small agricultural enclave with characteristic old farms, fields and meadows. On the way back you will discover Klein Boeschoten, a private estate. Here you can still see the original layout of the medieval gamekeepers' estate.
