Tour of the Ommen Forestry and the Engbertsdijksvenen

Your cycle route starts at Camping De Koeksebelt. You immediately dive into Het Laer. In Boswachterij Ommen you cycle right through the vast greenery. How wonderful it is to cycle for miles in the forests and between the grasslands! In hamlets such as Junne and Beerze time seems to have stood still: you see old thatched Saxon farms and ash trees. Then you enjoy the views in the beautiful Engbertsdijksvenen. At Vroomshoop and Geerdijk the raised bog was exploited from the middle of the nineteenth century, because the Twente textile industry needed peat as cheap fuel. Around junction 88 you cycle through the Vroeger Achterbroek, a centuries-old landscape of hayfields, hedgerows and woods. Especially in the summer a picture, with the splendor of flowers in the fields.
