Tour of the Ommen and Vroomshoop Forestry

You immediately dive into Het Laer. In Ommen Forestry, you ride straight through the expansive greenery. How wonderful it is to spend miles here in the woods and among the meadows! In hamlets like Junne and Beerze, time seems to have stood still: you see old thatched Saxon farmhouses and common trees. East of Vroomshoop, the raised bog was reclaimed from the mid-nineteenth century onwards, because the Twente textile industry needed peat as cheap fuel. At the edge of the village, you can take a break at Brasserie Restaurant "De Aanleg". Around junction 89, you ride through the Vroeger Achterbroek, a centuries-old landscape of meadows, hedgerows, and copses. Finally, you pass through the hamlet of Giethmen.
