From bank to bank across the Lek

The pancake vault
Lopik is the starting point of this route. Park your car here and quickly hop on your bike to explore the route. The first part of the route takes you along the Lek to the edge of Nieuwegein. Here you cross the river to Vianen with a foot-bicycle ferry. Check in advance what the sailing times of this ferry are, so that you are not standing on the shore for nothing. Fancy an ice cream from all that cycling?

Boat trips on the Lek
From Vianen you cycle past meadows and agricultural areas to Meerkerk. Along the way you will pass the Hoekmolen and Molen De Bonk. You then cycle on to Ameide to cross the Lek again to Lopik. Here too you use a foot ferry to bridge the water.

Admiring windmills from the bike
The Hoekmolen is a seesaw mill that was built to drain the polder that lies here. When exactly the mill was built is unknown, but it is in any case a very old mill. The mill was used until 1945. After that, a diesel pumping station took over the function of the mill. Molen De Bonk was also a polder mill that came to a standstill after 1945.
