The Vechtdal is a walker's paradise full of beautiful landscapes along the river. Take this walking tour from Mariënberg to Hardenberg and experience for yourself how wonderfully quiet it is in this area and how atmospheric the various towns and villages along the Vecht are.
Beautiful panoramas from the Distelbelt
Train station Mariënberg is the starting point of the walking route. Travel in peace by train to this station and start your walk rested. That's the perfect start to a fun day out. The first sight on the route is the Distelbelt, a lookout hill in the Mölnmarsch area. This mound was constructed with the sand that was excavated during the construction of an area where excess rainwater can be collected. Climb the Distelbelt and enjoy the view over the Vecht and the surrounding area. You then continue walking through Diffelen to the town of Rheeze.
On the way home
Then you walk further to Hardenberg train station. Here you can end your day with a comfortable train ride home. Nothing better than plopping down on the train and dreaming away at the beautiful landscape that you can see from your window while you are being taken home.
