From Dalfsen to Vilsteren Estate
The starting point of this route is Dalfsen train station. This train station is located a little outside Dalfsen, on the banks of the Overijsselse Vecht. At the start of the route you cross the Vecht to Dalfsen. From here you cycle along the banks of the Vecht through vast green meadows and agricultural areas. At Holt you cross the Vecht again to the other bank of the river to continue walking to Vilsteren. This village belongs to the Vilsteren estate, which covers no less than 1035 hectares. The residents of the village have to pay rent to the owners of the estate. All houses and farms on this estate can be recognized by their dark green and light yellow shutters.

Explore Ommen in a pleasant way
From here you continue walking through the woods in the direction of Ommen. The end point of this walking route is Ommen train station . You can board the train here, but you can of course also go into the center of Ommen to sit on a terrace or have a tasty bite to eat.

The Overijsselse Vecht
The majority of this route runs along the Overijsselse Vecht. The Vecht is 167 kilometers long and the river flows through Germany and the Netherlands. Ultimately the river flows into the Zwarte Water near Zwolle. This river was important for shipping until well into the 19th century, but today nothing remains of it due to the arrival of the Dedemsvaart canal.
