Hiking at Harskamp

Harskamp is best known for its army camp, but you can also enjoy beautiful walks. This route takes you through the Gelderse Valley west of the village.

Lana Mariana
No one actually knows why she's called that, but Lana Mariana sure is a standout name for a mill. This stone belt mill was built in 1739. The belt is gone, the original stone hull is still standing. The mill was used for grinding grain, but was heavily damaged in World War II. The mill remained in ruins until 1984, after which it was refurbished and used as a residence.

Old farmland
Streams, meadows, fields: west of Harskamp there is suddenly a completely different landscape than you find on the east side of the Veluwe. But here too it is wonderful to walk with beautiful views and high skies. You can still see characteristic farms here. And old-fashioned scary: agricultural lands raised by the farmers with a mixture of heather sods and manure.
