Description

Your route starts at Camping Wilhelminahoeve. At Restaurant Aekingerzand you can hop off and enjoy a snack and drink. Drents-Friese Wold National Park is one of the largest nature reserves in the Netherlands. No wonder it is wonderfully quiet here! Here you can enjoy many kilometers of varied forests, heathlands, grassy meadows and streams. Get off in front of the Doldersummerveld Lookout Tower, also known as the Polish lookout tower. You then drive through Frederiksoord and Wilhelminaoord: two villages that arose from mining colonies that were founded around 1820 by the Society of Benevolence. A little later you cycle into the village of Vledder, with two village greens: the large and the small village green. The Museum of False Art here is highly recommended! On the way back you pass through Doldersum, a town where the old village green is still in its original location: on the edge of the village.
