Description
Drents-Friese Wold National Park and Dwingelderveld National Park are a stone's throw from each other. By bike you can easily explore both parks during one trip. Add to that cozy places between the two nature reserves and you have a beautiful environment for a bike ride.
A varied nature
The first part of the route runs through the Drents-Friese Wold. This area consists of gently sloping heaths, forests and shifting sand areas. You mainly cycle along the edge of the Drents-Friese Wold and then you cycle via Hoogersmilde to Dwingelderveld National Park. This park is almost 4000 hectares with wet heathlands and forests. It is wonderfully quiet here, so it should not be a problem to relax. You will also find historic burial mounds and fens here. In principle, the Dwingelderveld is everything Drenthe has to offer, but in a small way in one area.

Dwingeloo
Between the two national parks you will find the village of Dwingeloo. In the center of the village is a large green green with a protected village view. You will also find the Sint-Nicolaaskerk from the 15th century here. In 1923 a large part of the church interior went up in flames in a village fire, but fortunately the church building has been well preserved. This village is definitely worth a visit.
