Nature route Kalmthout - Rucphen

With this route you will discover some beautiful nature reserves between Kalmthout and Rucphen. From the starting point you can drive at ease through the agricultural border area of Belgium and the Netherlands. It is wonderfully quiet cycling here. Just past Nispen you come across the seventeenth-century Visdonk Estate with its mix of pine forest, heathland and grassy meadows. At Het Wapen van Nassau you can enjoy a delicious meal, after which you drive through the Rucphense Bossen. At the border you pass the Strontpaal Essen. The story goes that customs officers used to 'hide' behind this stone to do their big message. A little later you cycle through De Maatjes with its reed fields, swamp forests and wet meadows. You can enjoy a beautiful view of this area from the De Klot lookout tower. Finally, you cycle across the Kalmthoutse Heide.
