This is not about a real cast iron boundary marker, but about an auxiliary post or intermediate post, namely no. 238a. This bluestone boundary marker is generally called "De Stitpaal" in Essen (B). 'De Stitpaal' owes its name to the customs officers who used the border marker during the First World War to relieve themselves of it.
