Description

The Reest is a peat stream that forms part of the border between Overijssel and Drenthe. In the valley around this meandering stream you drive through a landscape where meadows, old hedgerows, ash trees, heathland and forest alternate. The unspoilt character of this area makes the Reestdal a true paradise. The old thatched farmhouses fit perfectly into the decor. Straight roads at right angles to each other, villages with a characteristic ribbon development: you also drive through the Drenthe peat area. The Hollandsche Veld consists of countless strips of forest plots and cultivated land in which you can see the subdivision pattern of peat extraction. The Steenberger Oosterveld is a park-like landscape that consists of a mosaic of forests, heathlands and cultivated fields. Stop off for a cup of coffee at Sauna Thermen Zuidwolde!
