Walking over the Sallandse Heuvelrug

This route takes you through the heart of Sallandse Heuvelrug National Park. First you walk from Nijverdal into the forest on the Nijverdalse Berg. A gold rush broke out here in 1901. An official concession was even granted for gold mining: the only one ever in the Netherlands. It soon turned out that there was indeed gold in the hill, but in such small quantities that it was not profitable to extract the gold. Exit gold rush. From junction 83 you walk up the Haarlerberg. From this hill you have beautiful views of the area, especially in clear weather. In addition to heather, you will also see juniper bushes here. You walk back through the forest to Nijverdal. At Grand Café Toi Toi you can enjoy a well-deserved terrace.
